Until the End of Time

I think it's fair to say that lofi and love go hand in hand. Whether that be heartbreak or undying love, there is something complimentary about the soothing rhythms that make you dream about the ones that got away or the ones we have yet to meet. This week, I dedicate this story to my fellow hopeless romantics. I hope this puts a smile on your face.

"Do you believe in forever?" She asked. The two have spent all afternoon under their favorite palm tree on the beach, watching the sunset calm the ocean.
"I don't know, maybe," he answered, unsure of where she was going with this.
"Maybe?! C'mon, yes or no?" She lifted her eyes to his as her head shifted on his shoulders. He stared into her soft blue eyes trying to figure her out.
He brushed a couple loose strands of hair away from her face. "Well, not many things last forever, you know? Things die, things change, people change. Some things feel like they last forever but that doesn't mean they will."
She smiled at his response. "What kind of things?"
He cleared his throat with a dry cough. "Take the ocean for instance. It feels like the waves are forever destined to wash up on the shore. But if the ocean dries up, then what? It's chance at forever is forfeited.
She rotates her body to lay on her side. She pulls his right arm over herself, her head falling on his lap. His lips part as he watches her get comfortable, teeth grinning from ear to ear.
"Even the sunset babe," he continued. "It feels like the sun will set forever, no matter what. But will it still set when we're all gone? Probably, but who knows?"
"It's beautiful though, isn't it?" She said. "I mean, the thought of something lasting forever, never-fading away."
There was a moment of silence between the two of them. They both watched the sun on the horizon, settling just above the waters ready to dive into its depths. He seizes the opportunity share a kiss with her. They pull away, sitting upright again. A shy smile spreads across her face before closing her eyes. They've been up since 5 am and exhaustion was starting to tug on her eyelids.
He kissed her forehead once more. At that moment, the only thing he could do was look at her. Not even the sunset could compete for his attention. He placed his hand on her cheek, gently rubbing them with his thumb as she nudged closer to him.
"I- uh...um." The words are escaping him. It's just three of them yet...
She opened her eyes, gazing in anticipation. She knows what he is going to say but waits, eager to hear it.
"Yes? What is it?" she said. His face grows warm with nerves. The blue in her eyes match the shade of the ocean and for a second, he's lost in her tides. He takes a deep breath.
"To answer your question, yes."
"Yes?"
"Forever exists," He kisser her once more. "I'm sure of it now. I need it too, now more than ever."
She smiles at him again. He smiles back. To say anything more would ruin the moment so instead, the two of them watch the sun disappear as the moon pops out to say hello.
