The ChainSmokers' So Far So Good Lofi Album Review

They absolutely nailed it!

Well, this was a pleasant surprise! On October 21st, Alexander "Alex" Pall and Andrew "Drew" Taggart, also known as the Chainsmokers, dropped a lofi remix version of their album So Far So Good which was released in May of this year. The duo specializes in hypnotic EDM with a splash of pop that makes their sound fun and exciting to listen to, so it was dope to see them deliver an absolutely amazing lofi album.

Simply put, this album is sweet. No, I don't mean cute. It's more like if you were to bite into a chocolate bar filled with caramel that blankets every crevice of your tastebuds as it melts on your tongue. As you journey through the album, every melody oozes out in richness as each song is accompanied by soft keys and calming rhythms; the perfect polar opposite to their original electric, dance-fueled synthesized album.

Illustrated by the talented John Lee, known as lakeebs on social media, each song tells its own story with its very own drawing. Adding to the experience, we get to watch the Chainsmokers embark on many different adventurous activities such as camping, commuting on the subway, waiting for their flight at the airport, and watching the sunset on their surfboards with a friendly dolphin. This album remix is a beautiful example of when talented musicians meet an equally talented illustrator to create a cool new world for the imagination to escape to. This, right here, is *chef's kiss.

Seeing artists venture into the realm of lofi is truly incredible and something I want to see happen more often. I'm convinced you can do no wrong. Listening to both the lofi and the original version of this album simultaneously, it's so surreal seeing how well the Chainsmokers created two very distinct experiences around the albums. I can only imagine how well other mainstream artists can do in creating a similar experience. I don't know if I'm asking for too much but I hope more artists are interested in doing lofi remixes for at least one of their future projects. As for Alex and Drew, hats off to them and John Lee for coming together to create this masterpiece. Y'all absolutely delivered on this album.

You can listen to So Far So Good on all streaming platforms but I highly recommend you both watch and listen to the album as the animated illustrations transition between each other. There is one particular channel you can visit and that's MrSuicideSheep but I'm pretty sure there are other channels that have combined all the illustrations as well. Either way, tap in and enjoy the vibes. I promise you will not be disappointed.

With that being said, I'm about to go watch the video again for the 10th time. I'll be seeing you all soon.

Peace.
